It has been recently announced by Élisabeth Borne, France‘s Minister for Transport, tha the government plans to terminate the concession contract signed in 2010 between VINCI Airports and the state covering operation of Nantes Atlantique Airport.

The decision came as a result of the abandonment of the NDDL project in Jan 2018. The minister said the termination will enter into effect upon signing of a new concession contract aiming to assure the continued operation of the airport, with a new contract allowing for scheduled airport renovations works to proceed in early 2021.

Since Janueary 2018, compensation discussions with VINCI have been held, with compensation due to contract termination reportedly estimated at around €200 million (US$234,39 million).
