Turkish firms show interest in airports in Montenegro

Government of Montenegro has launched restoration and operation concession for two airports in Montenegro. Leading Turkish firms such as Limak, Cengiz, Mapa, TAV and İçtaş Construction has shown interest in concession of Podgorica airport and Tivat airport. Transport and Maritime Affairs Minister of Montenegro has stated that a total of 25 proposals for both airports came from Turkish companies. Ministry is planning to double the capacity of airports in the coming 10 years.

The total investment of EUR 200 million (US$ 223.18 million) will be required for both airport concessions in the 30-year span. Government of Montenegro is expecting an investment of EUR 80 million (US$ 89.33 million) in the first two years of the concession. The concessionaire will give 10% of their annual turnover to the Montenegrin state.

Turkish companies are currently executing many projects in Balkan countries covering the sectors of industry, textiles, marina, real estate, automotive industry, airport, and highway construction. The total investment of Turkish companies in the Balkans reportedly amounts to approximately US$ 15 billion.
