US$740 million Contract awarded for water and broadband projects in California

Hochtief subsidiary Flatiron has won a combined US$740 million in road expansion, water and broadband contracts in California.

Flatiron has been awarded contracts to enhance California's infrastructure, including expanding broadband and roads, as well as securing the water supply.

  • over US$191 million for planning services aimed at connecting districts in Northern and Southern California to broadband infrastructure. These projects aim to improve broadband access in underserved and unserved communities; 
  • US$237 million to modernize existing water facilities and build new ones, providing quality drinking water to communities in and around Oakland; and
  • US$276 million is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving safety, and enhancing sustainability by improving traffic flow. Joint ventures led by Flatiron will be upgrading the highways in Yolo County, including the only highway that connects the San Francisco Bay Area and the greater Sacramento area. The project involves widening two bridges and converting nine other bridges.
