The Government of the USA along with Japan and Australia has launched Blue Dot Network initiative, which is designed to fund infrastructure sustainability. The initiative was launched by US commerce secretary along with US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and the Australian Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) at 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Thailand.

The Blue Dot Network will promote public-private partnerships for high-quality, standard for global infrastructure networks in transparent and inclusive framework. The network will evaluate and certify nominated infrastructure projects based upon adherence to commonly accepted principles and standards to promote market-driven, transparent, and financially sustainable infrastructure development in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.

The network forum has pledged US$ 10 billion in Japanese investment in liquefied natural gas projects and there are plans with Asian Development Bank to invest up to US$ 7 billion in Asian energy projects.
