Webuild has announced the construction of a suspension bridge that will connect both sides of the Danube River in the Galati-Braila region in Romania.

The bridge is 1,975 m long with a 1,120-m main deck. It will have four lanes, an emergency lane, and cycling and pedestrian paths. There is an access viaduct 90 m long on each side, a 220-m viaduct to cross over the Braila-Galati railway and 21 km of the new road network. The project is being financed by the Operational Programme for Large Infrastructure (POIM).

The EUR434 million (US$429.34 million) project will reduce crossing times for 7,000 vehicles every day and avoid the use of a ferry. IHI Infrastructure Systems Co Ltd. will also be responsible for the construction of the bridge.
