Ontario shortlists companies for Joseph Brant Hospital Project DBF

Infrastructure Ontario and Joseph Brant Hospital announced yesterday the three teams shortlisted to design, build and finance the hospital's expansion and modernization project.

Based on a request for qualifications process that began in April 2013, three teams were shortlisted and will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, expected to be issued in early 2014. Each of the teams includes a designer, builder and a finance group:

Integrated Team SolutionsPCL PartnershipsThe estimated investment for the project is C$240 million.The first phase of the project includes the construction of a new seven-storey patient-care tower and significant renovations to the existing space, as well as the addition of the Halton McMaster Family Health Centre. This will provide the growing community with improved access to a larger, more modern hospital and more new private patient rooms, consistent with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care's design guidelines, to meet the highest standards for infection prevention and control and quality of care.Highlights of the second phase of the project include:
  • additional acute inpatient beds
  • an expanded diagnostic imaging and medical diagnostics unit
  • additional modern operating rooms
  • a new post-anaesthetic care unit
  • an expanded ambulatory care area
  • an expanded cancer clinic
  • an expanded intensive care unit (ICU)
  • a modernizes emergency department
  • a new main entrance
  • an expanded and modernized laboratory
