Bahia Mineração (Bamin) is a Brazilian mining company founded in 2005 and headquartered in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. It is part of and principally controlled by the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), a global natural resources conglomerate. The company focuses on the exploration, production and export of high-grade iron ore, primarily through its cornerstone asset, the Pedra de Ferro mine in Caetité, Bahia, which produces hematite and high-iron direct shipping ore.
Bamin’s operations are part of an integrated mine-to-export logistics strategy that includes the Pedra de Ferro iron ore mine, a concession for the first section of the Ferrovia de Integração Oeste-Leste (FIOL) railway, and the Porto Sul deepwater port in Ilhéus — together designed to enable efficient transport and export of iron ore and other bulk commodities from inland Bahia to global markets.
The company emphasizes sustainability, community development, and environmental stewardship as core pillars of its operations, aligning with international environmental-social governance (ESG) standards. Since beginning commercial operations around 2020, Bamin has progressively scaled production and pursues expansion plans to increase annual iron ore output toward tens of millions of tonnes as the integrated logistics corridor becomes fully operational.
