BRT Planning International is a New York-based consultancy, headed by Annie Weinstock and Dr. Walter Hook, whose sole focus is on designing and implementing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. Their specialization has given them deep expertise in this complex field. They have worked in cities around the world—from Johannesburg, Reykjavik and Guangzhou to Amman, Ahmedabad and Chicago—delivering BRTs with capacities and performance matching metro or subway systems. In addition to full BRT projects, they also help redesign existing bus networks—especially around BRT corridors—and devise localized bus priority improvements to enhance regular bus service. Their team combines innovative ideas derived from successful global case studies, together with technical tools to test and refine those ideas. The leadership includes Annie Weinstock—who brings over two decades of transit planning experience and is skilled at simplifying complex technical concepts—and Dr. Walter Hook, who has led numerous international transport and development initiatives (among them helping to launch and improve BRT systems in many major cities).
