Bahia, one of the 26 states of Brazil, has launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) to carry out feasibility studies to analyze the implementation of landfills through public private partnership.
The project will benefit the regions of Salvador (13 counties), Portal do Sertão (19), Litoral Sul (26), Vitória da Conquista (24) and Sertão do São Francisco (10).
Interested parties must submit their expressions of interest on or before 10 November.
The government aims to receive studies for the project by 19 December 2014.
According to sources the Union of Municipalities of Bahia adopted a similar process in August, when it partnered with three companies: Ecos Projetos e Assessoria, Balga Soluções Engenharia and Fundação Faculdade de Direito.
We recently reported about another waste PPP project in Brazil, the concession to manage municipal solid waste in the city of Salto in the state of São Paulo. Revita Engenharia S.A. and Corpus Saneamento e Obras Ltda have bid for the concession.
