The Buffalo Bills and Carhartt have marked the completion of the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, ahead of the venue’s next chapter as the Bills’ home. The new open-air, football-focused stadium features a canopy over the seating bowl, 360-degree concourses, premium seating, frictionless food-and-beverage marketplaces, and upgraded audiovisual facilities. The project is being delivered as a public-private partnership involving the Buffalo Bills, New York State and Erie County.
The announcement focuses on the thousands of skilled tradespeople who helped construct the stadium and make game-day operations possible. Carhartt is highlighting their contribution through the latest chapter of its “Made Possible” campaign, which recognizes the role of tradespeople in creating major shared experiences. Bills legend Thurman Thomas, whose commercial construction company 34 Group Inc. was responsible for installing the stadium’s seats, gives current Bills running back James Cook III a tour of the completed venue.
The campaign builds on Carhartt’s earlier work with Thomas during the initial stages of the stadium’s construction. The new installment shifts the focus from construction to completion, symbolically “passing the torch” from the crews that built the stadium to the players who will compete there. A 30-second film titled “Making Football Possible” reinforces this message by working backward from a game-day scene to the various construction and manufacturing activities required to create it.
Carhartt is also extending the campaign beyond Buffalo by recognizing workers involved in supplying essential elements for football stadiums nationwide. The campaign features stories involving Carolina Green, a major natural-grass supplier for NFL stadiums, and Aluminum Athletic Equipment, whose welders produce uprights used at multiple NFL venues. As part of the celebration, Carhartt planned a recognition effort during the Bills’ first preseason home game at the new stadium on August 15. The first 20,000 fans were to receive rally towels carrying the names of the people who worked on the stadium, while in-stadium messaging would also pay tribute to the construction crews. The initiative is intended to emphasize that the finished stadium is the result of the work of thousands of people behind the scenes, rather than solely the players and teams seen on game day.
