Concession notice issued for National Park in Brazil

The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) has published a new public notice for the concession of services in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park in Cuiabá, Brazil.

The newly issued announcement upholds the projection of investing approximately BRL18 million (US$3.6 million) in park infrastructure, alongside the possibility of a BRL200 million (US$41 million) investment in operational and managerial aspects. This project, which qualifies for the Federal Government's Investment Partnership Program (PPI), has been designed collaboratively by the BNDES in conjunction with ICMBio, the Ministry of the Environment (MMA), and the Ministry of Tourism (MTur). The National Park lies in the Mato Grosso cerrado, at the heart of South America's geodesic center, spanning Cuiabá and Chapada dos Guimarães municipalities, near the capital. Beyond its tourism magnetism, the Park safeguards a vital Cerrado expanse, bridging the Pantanal and Amazon biomes. It is integral to the Alto Paraguai watershed, conserving the origins of the Cuiabá River, a major Pantanal source. The park's significance also extends to endangered species habitats, including the maned wolf and jaguar.

The selected concessionaire will bear the responsibility for supporting visitation activities and maintaining and modernizing tourist services, while concurrently executing conservation and environmental protection initiatives. The notice further outlines a series of initial investments as part of the concession, encompassing enhancements to operational structures, recreational facilities, and various amenities.

The last date for delivery of proposals is December 12, 2023. More information about this tender can be found on our Business opportunity page here.
