The General Directorate of Concessions (DGC) of the Ministry of Public Works announced the extension of the bidding process for the "Route 5 Concession Caldera-Antofagasta Section" project in Chile.

The new dates for the Receipt of Technical and Economic Bids and the Opening of Economic Bids are scheduled for October 23 and November 19, 2025, respectively. These events were previously scheduled for July 23 and August 20, 2025.

The concession project contemplates an estimated investment of USD 804 million (UF 20,700,000) and includes the improvement, construction, maintenance, and operation of approximately 466 kilometers, the section of Route 5 that extends from the north of the municipality of Caldera to the south of the municipality of Antofagasta.

Currently, the section is a two-way public road, which, thanks to the project, will be expanded to a dual carriageway. The design includes speeds between 100 and 120 km/h, with specific restrictions, connecting bridges in the Chañaral district, new footbridges, pedestrian stops, rest areas, lighting, road safety features, and general service and emergency response areas.
