Equitix acquires 54% stake in Italian hospital projects

UK-based infrastructure fund Equitix has signed an agreement to acquire a 54% stake in the capital of Asolo Hospital Service spa from Guerrato spa.

Asolo Hospital Service is a special purpose company (SPC) owned by Guerrato, Camst, Coopservice, Servizi Italia and other minor shareholders.

The SPC was founded to upgrade and maintain two hospitals in Castelfranco Veneto and Montebelluna, in Northern Italy. The SPC signed an agreement for that purpose with Veneto Region in September 2004 expiring in 2032.

Asolo Hospital Service invested approximately €20 million in the hospitals and got a €79.8 million project loan from Unicredit, Banca Imi, Mps and Veneto Banca, which matures in 2025.

In early May we published that funds managed by Equitix acquired 50% interest in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh project from Balfour Beatty for a consideration of £72 million (US$109 million). The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a major acute teaching hospital.
