Louisiana university shortlists two firms for student housing P3

Louisiana State University (LSU), USA, has shortlisted two firms to develop the Nicholson Gateway student housing P3 project.

According to sources, American Campus Communities and RISE Real Estate will commence negotiation with LSU. The wining bidder will be selected by spring next year.

Brailsford & Dunlavey and CSRS have been engaged by LSU as a collaborative team to serve as the Development Advisor.

The project, which will be developed on a design, build, finance, operate, and maintain (DBFOM) basis, will transform the largest underdeveloped tract of university-owned property that is adjacent to the campus core. The project will turn what has traditionally been the back of the campus into a new gateway district.

The new facilities will include, among others, approximately 1,260 apartment-style beds, 410 suite-style beds, study areas, meeting spaces, restaurants and about 40,000 m² of retail space.  The place aims to be part of the campus, rather than a service-oriented bypass.

Rob Stuart, chair of the Nicholson Gateway Development Project Committee, said,

"American Campus Communities and RISE Real Estate are recognized leaders in this industry. We appreciate the opportunity to work more closely with these firms and will ultimately choose the best partner to bring this exciting project to fruition for the benefit of the LSU community."
