MainePERS commits $300 million to infra fund

According to sources, Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) has made two commitments totaling up to US$300 million to infrastructure funds.

MainePERS has committed US$150 million to Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III, managed by Brookfield Asset Management, and other US$150 million to Global Infrastructure Partners III.

Additionally the fund has committed US$60 million to Berkshire Fund IX, a buyout fund managed by Berkshire Partners, and US$50 million to AMERRA Agri Fund III, an agricultural lending fund managed by AMERRA Capital Management.

MainePERS has committed funds to this kind of investment vehicles during the last years. In May 2013, the fund committed US$100 million to Brookfield Infrastructure Fund II. Previously, in 2011, the fund committed approximately US$75 million to Global Infrastructure Partners II.

The Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) is an independent public agency of the State of Maine, USA. The fund, established in 1942, provides services for retiring public employees and has an infrastructure target of 10%. The System’s contributing members include: Public school teachers and administrators, State employees, and Municipal and other local employees.
