RFQ delayed in road PPP project in Paraguay

The deadline of the request for qualifications (RFQ) for the expansion and improvement of routes 2 and 7 in Paraguay has been extended .

The new deadline to request information about the project is 25 March and the qualification documents' deadline is now 14 April 2015.

The project is expected to be the first infrastructure project to be carried out as a public-private partnership (PPP) under the country's recently-passed PPP law.

Route 2 links Asuncion and Coronel Oviedo while route 7 links Coronel Oviedo and Ciudad Este.

The project involves the capacity duplication of 142 km of the route 2, and the capacity duplication between Km 30 and Km 183 of the route 7. 

The total project investment is estimated at US$410 million.

In October last year we reported that the project was confirmed as a PPP along with other four project, including Silvio Pettirossi international airport modernization project and San Cristóbal-Naranjal road. There was also a request from the Ministry of Public Health for the expansion of primary healthcare centers through a PPP project. The fifth project was not disclosed because it had not been declared of public interest yet.
