The Request for Proposals (RFP) stage has closed for companies to submit their bids to deliver the Lakeridge Health-Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment Project.
Following a fair, open and transparent process, two companies were shortlisted and invited to respond to an RFP in September 2025. Both companies, Bowmanville Health Partners and PCL Partnerships, have submitted their proposals by the deadline.
Over the next few months, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Lakeridge Health will evaluate the submissions, and a successful proponent is expected to be announced in fall 2026, pending final approvals. A fairness monitor is overseeing the entire procurement process.
The expansion to the Bowmanville Hospital will more than double the size of the current hospital, enabling increased health care capacity in Durham Region. It will expand critical care services and introduce modern, patient-centred facilities including private rooms, ambulatory care clinics and a haemodialysis centre.
