Three teams shortlisted for Calgary CNG Bus Storage and Transit Facility

The city of Calgary has shortlisted three teams for the Stoney Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Transit Bus Garage PPP project in Alberta, Canada.

The 3 shortlisted consortia are the following:

The preferred bidder is expected to be announced by spring 2016.

The new facility is expected to accommodate approximately 400 40-foot equivalent buses to be maintained, fuelled and stored. It will provide storage and maintenance space for Calgary Transit's new fleet of CNG buses, as well as diesel buses that are currently stored outside the City's other bus garages.

The project involves the development of an indoor vehicle storage, 40 maintenance bays, two steam bays, on-site natural gas compression and compressed natural gas storage distribution infrastructure and administrative facilities.

The project will be developed on a design, build, finance and maintenance (DBFM) basis for a period of 30 years.

The total project investment is estimated at CAD$274 million. It is expected that the Government of Canada, through the P3 Canada Fund, will provide an investment of up to CAD$48.4 million toward the construction of the facility.
