US$958 million Contract Awarded for Health Centre Redevelopment Project in Canada

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Trillium Health Partners (THP) have awarded a fixed-priced contract of CAD 1.3 billion (US$958 million) to EllisDon Corporation to build and finance the redevelopment project of The Future Home of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre in Etobicoke, Canada.

The Future Home of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre facility will include the following:

  • New patient tower, including a modern nine-story facility with over 350 beds;
  • Increased capacity for specialized care including complex continuing care and rehabilitation services;
  • 100% private rooms;
  • New standalone Central Utility Plant; and
  • New parking structure (delivered separately).

The initiative involves building a new patient tower and refurbishing certain areas at Queensway Health Centre. The revamped health center aims to expand its capacity for post-acute care. Additionally, the project encompasses creating a new parking structure as an independent early works project, constructing a standalone central utility plant, and redeveloping corporate services, facilities, materials management, and nutrition and food services.
