Chile signed Austral airport network concession

The Ministry of Public Works in Chile has signed Austral airport network concession to the concessionaire company Consorcio Austral de Aeropuertos, formed by Cointer Chile (Azvi) and BlackRock. The concession involves works for Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport in Punta Arenas and the Balmaceda airfield located in Coyhaique. The concessionaire will be responsible for detailed engineering design and construction works of the airports in 2022.

The scope of works for Campo Airport involves expansion, repair, conservation and replacement of the existing infrastructure, equipment, and facilities as well as increase conditions of service, comfort, and safety of the passengers. The project aims to expand the current area of the airport from 6,471 m2 to 16,014 m2, increase the commercial parking places from 441 to 570 and double the aircraft parking capacity from five to ten positions.

The redevelopment of Balmaceda Aerodrome involves terminal area expansion from 2,400 m2 to 12,391 m2, increase in commercial parking places from 272 to 173 and the parking of vehicles, double the aircraft parking capacity from three to six, and thirteen new parking lots for general aviation.
