The Executive Branch signed the concession contract for the Longitudinal Sierra Highway Section 4, a 965-kilometer megaproject that will integrate Junín, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurímac, and Ica. This project will benefit more than 1.6 million Peruvians and represents an investment of US$1.582 billion under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality, which will boost the regional economy by reducing travel times by 30%, improving road safety, and strengthening production chains.
The contract was signed between the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), representing the Peruvian State, and Concesionaria Vial del Centro SA, the project's successful bidder. It should be noted that this project was awarded last July by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), through PROINVERSIÓN.
The modernization of the Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4 includes the construction of the new San Clemente Bypass (approximately 5 km), the rehabilitation and improvement of 180 km between the Huancayo–Izcuchaca and Izcuchaca–Mayocc sub-sections, as well as the initial periodic maintenance of 780 km between the Mayocc–Ayacucho–Andahuaylas–Puente Sahuinto and Ayacucho–Huaytará–División Pisco sections.
The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) awarded the contract to an international consulting firm to structure the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract for the new Hipólito Unanue National Hospital project.
