Concession Contract signed for Wastewater Treatment Plant in Peru
The Peruvian State signed today the concession contract for the Wastewater Treatment for Final Disposal or Reuse in the City of Chincha (WWTP Chincha), Peru.
The project was promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) and PROINVERSIÓN, and awarded on January 7, 2025, to the company Aqualia PTAR Chincha SAC. The initiative will require an approximate investment of US$250 million for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the treatment plant.
The concessionaire will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, and operation of 21 km of collection networks, a pumping station, two new treatment plants with a total capacity of 0.6 m³/second, and 7.7 km of treated water disposal lines.
The WWTP will directly benefit the districts of Chincha Alta, Chincha Baja, Grocio Prado, Pueblo Nuevo, Alto Larán, Sunampe, and Tambo de Mora. The State will co-finance the entire investment, as well as part of the operation and maintenance, ensuring financial sustainability.
