Construction works begin for Route 66 concession in Chile

Ministry of Public Works in Chile has announced the start of construction works for sections B3 and B4 of the Ruta 66 Camino de la Fruta Concession. These 60.1 km long sections are located between the El Durazno Bridge (km 63.8) and the Las Brisas Link (km 123.9 ), in the communes of Las Cabras, San Pedro, and Santo Domingo.

The estimated investment value of the project is US$549 million. The 141 km long road begins at the intersection of Route 66 with Route 5 South (Pelequén sector, km 122), in the O'Higgins Region, crosses part of the Metropolitan Region, and ends at the Access road to the Port of San Antonio (Reuss Link), in the Valparaíso Region. The concession will be executed in five sections- A1, A2, B3, B4, and B5.

Sections B3 and B4 are expected to be operational by 2024. The works on them involves the rehabilitation and improvement of the El Durazno, Alhué, La Cabaña and El Colo bridges, the construction of slow tracks in the Cuesta San Vicente and Lo Encañado sector, the Las Arañas and Rapel Links, as well as the Quincanque bypass.
