Construction works started for Hanthawaddy International Airport

Construction works and a feasibility study has been commenced for Hanthawaddy International Airport. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced that the first phase for the project will be completed by 2027. JICA will conduct the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and submit the draft report to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.

Hanthawaddy International Airport will be developed in an area of 9,000 acres in the Bago region approximately 80 km from Yangoon. It will be the biggest airport in Myanmar once completed.
