New Fortress Energy (NFE) has announced today that its subsidiary Genera PR LLC (Genera) has been selected by the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority for a 10-year Operation and Maintenance Agreement with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA).

Genera will operate, maintain, decommission and upgrade PREPA's approximately 3,600 MW thermal power generation system after the mobilization period. Genera will also manage the operating budget, fuel contracts, and federal funds for the generating fleet on PREPA's behalf. NFE's partnership with PREPA will provide cost savings for consumers and businesses, improve reliability and reduce the environmental impact of an aging thermal generation system. The project will impact the transformation of the island's electrical system and the transition to renewable energy integration as mandated by the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and Puerto Rico's public energy policy.

Genera was selected by P3A after a competitive process. Genera will work with the Government of Puerto Rico and PREPA during the mobilization phase to transition operations and take on board existing PREPA operational personnel.
