Côte d’Ivoire selects Socoprim for multimillion PPP to develop Abidjan’s sixth bridge

The Government of Côte d’Ivoire has selected Socoprim to develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain a 200 billion FCFA (US$353.7 million) toll PPP for Abidjan’s sixth bridge, linking Abatta in Cocody with Koumassi and Port-Bouët across the Ébrié Lagoon in Abidjan.

The project will create a new crossing of the Ébrié Lagoon, linking Abatta in Cocody with Koumassi and Port-Bouët. The bridge will comprise two sections—Abatta–Koumassi and Koumassi–Port-Bouët—with a combined length of about 1.5 km, alongside associated connecting road infrastructure. The PPP will cover the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the bridge and associated road corridor. The facility is planned as a toll bridge, providing an alternative route between Abidjan’s north-east and southern areas and helping reduce congestion on existing routes serving the airport and port.

Socoprim was selected over China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). Its experience operating the existing Henri-Konan-Bédié Bridge—also a toll concession across the Ébrié Lagoon—is expected to support the financial and operational structuring of the new project. The project is part of Côte d’Ivoire’s 2026 National Development Plan and is intended to improve connectivity between rapidly expanding residential areas such as Abatta and Bingerville and the industrial, logistics and airport zones in the south. The next major step is the formal signing of the concession agreement between the Ivorian government and Socoprim, followed by financial close and construction.
