The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) – a new multimodal transport hub under development in central Poland – has announced a tender for the design and construction of a tunnel and railway station, including the platform hall, located beneath the CPK Airport.

The project involves building a 6 km-long tunnel for railway lines that will connect Warsaw to the east and Gdańsk, Katowice and Łódź to the west. The tender is split into two sections, the first lot involving the design and construction of the station, plus the eastern and central sections of the tunnel. The second lot includes the design and construction of the western section and junction area. Both sections include optional scope for track systems and internal transport equipment for short-distance passenger and cargo movement.

Scheduled to open in 2032, the Foster + Partners and Buro Happold-designed airport will anchor the broader CPK project, which aims to overhaul transportation in Poland with the airport, highway upgrades and 2,000km of high-speed rail. The aim is to ensure that every major city in Poland can be reached from the new airport—located about 50 km west of Warsaw—in no more than two and a half hours.

Construction on the passenger terminal foundations is scheduled to start in 2026, with the airport expected to become operational by 2032. For this tender, bids must be submitted by 12 December 2025, with the contract award anticipated in Q1 of 2027. The overall project is planned for completion in 2031, and proposals will be assessed according to price and methodology.
