The project for the Paphos district, as announced by President Nikos Christodoulides on September 16, 2025, encompasses over 75 initiatives with a collective budget surpassing €230 million, aimed at fostering balanced development across multiple sectors. These initiatives span tourism, culture, education, health, social care, infrastructure, defense, and environmental sustainability, continuing a government effort launched in December 2024 to strengthen ties with local communities.

A cornerstone of the plan is the Paphos Marina, a 165,000m² development designed to accommodate 1,000 recreational boats, anticipated to position Paphos as a leading maritime and tourist destination. Cultural enhancements include a new cultural park and amphitheatre in Acheleia, a digital upgrade of the archaeological museum, improvements to pedestrian bridges in Chryssopolitissa, and renovations to the ancient conservatory. In education, the government will expand all-day secondary schools, establish six new optional all-day schools, and allocate €2 million and €4 million for upgrades to the primary schools in Timi and Chlorakas, respectively, alongside expansions of the technical and high schools in Emba. Healthcare investments center on Paphos General Hospital, with a €3 million emergency department expansion, a €5 million day care unit with upgrades to pediatric and gynecology departments, and a new €100,000 pulmonology clinic. Social initiatives include a model center for long-term elderly care and the Nefeli Talioti elderly home in Chlorakas to support residential and recreational needs. Infrastructure developments feature the Paphos-Polis highway with Mesoyi access, western and northern bypass roads, and widened avenues like Emba and Apostolos Pavlos, alongside local upgrades in towns such as Inia (€1.5 million), Kelokedara (€2.5 million), and Kouklia (€2.5 million), and the €3 million Tremithousa-Mesoyi bridge. Environmental efforts include a €14.7 million mobile desalination unit in Kissosnerga, grants for private hotel desalination units, coastal breakwaters, and a €6.7 million fire station in Peyia. Defense enhancements involve upgrading the Andreas Papandreou airbase in collaboration with the United States, while a new road will connect Paphos, Yeroskipou, and the airport. Additionally, a sustainable development plan for the Akamas National Forest Park and a local coordination office aim to bolster environmental and administrative resilience. These projects collectively seek to enhance residents’ quality of life and establish Paphos as a hub for tourism, culture, and sustainable development.
