The Government of Ecuador, through the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, is set to launch a series of infrastructure projects concessions that could potentially be worth US$1 billion.

In 2019, the government has entered into a major reconfiguration and enters into a public-private partnership (PPP) investment strategy.

Several projects that have been implemented under PPP are the construction of a Metroférico for Quito with US$740 million CAPEX, the concession of the port of Esmeralda's worth up to US$150 million, the non-intrusive inspection in ports (installation of scanners) amounting to US$200 million, the Guayaquil Southern Viaduct PPP project in Guayas with up to US$455 million of investment, the US$40 million concession of the 33 kilometers of road between Loja and Catamayo (in the south), and the US$70 million concession of the Manta airport (west).

The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Gabriel Martínez, specified that the projects will not be privatized, but concessioned. The ministry is interested in foreign and local company investment. Some of the projects to be concessioned will be ports and roads´expansion from two to four lanes.
