A Colombian court has ruled to terminate the concession contract for the Ernesto Cortissoz Airport in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The international terminal's modernization project has faced significant delays. An arbitration tribunal has recommended terminating the current contract due to the contractor's severe financial situation. The unfinished areas of the airport include the international pier, the sterile corridor (the space between the passenger inspection process and the plane entrance), and the baggage claim area in the domestic terminal.

The concessionaire is requesting compensation, citing that its financial situation has been impacted by public decisions. The proposed Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barranquilla, originally scheduled for the first race in 2026 or 2027, has faced significant delays. The substantial costs associated with organizing the Grand Prix are a key concern.
