The US$72.5 million project signifies Flatiron's fourth partnership with Caltrans on the significant NCC enhancements initiative in the San Diego metropolitan area. The NCC encompasses a comprehensive array of transportation enhancements, environmental conservation efforts, and coastal access initiatives. These projects are geared towards enhancing quality of life, safeguarding the coastal environment, and bolstering the regional economy. Key components of the NCC Segment 4C project include:

  2. Environmental preservation — Rehabilitation of the Auga Hedionda freeway embankment slopes and upgrades to bridge barrier rails to promote ecological sustainability.
  3. Community welfare — Expansion of Chestnut Avenue under crossing, installation of sound barriers and retaining walls, and enhancement of curb ramps to enhance coastal access.
