Four teams bid for Alcañiz hospital concession in Spain

The government of Aragon (Spain) has received bids from four teams to develop a new hospital in Alcañiz through a concession contract.

The four teams are the following:

The 193-bed hospital will have an area of 73.818 m². The project involves the construction, finance and maintenance of the new facilities for a period of 20 years. It will also includes non clinical services and he development o a general access road to the hospital.

The design was developed by EACSN Estudio de arquitectura in 2009.

The total project investment is estimated at €119.6 million (US$126.7 million). The total contract value during the concession period is estimated at €451 million (US$478 million). The government of Aragon will pay the concessionaire €18 million per year.

The concession is expected to be awarded by early May. Construction works are scheduled to start in August this year and the project is expected to be operational by 2018.

Alcañiz is a town and municipality in the province of Teruel, in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It has a population of about 17,000 inhabitants.
