Greece approves five new PPP concession worth EUR1.5 billion

The Interministerial PPP Committee of Greece has announced the approval of five new public-private partnership (PPP) concessions related to transport and water infrastructure across Greece.

The five projects are estimated to attract investments of up to EUR1.5 billion (US$1.58 billion). The approved projects are the following:

  1. Drama to Amfipoli road, involves the redevelopment of a 43 km road connecting Drama to Amfipoli, including rehabilitation of the existing road as well as the construction of a new alignment along the sections of road connecting Paleokomi to Mavrolevki and Mavrolevki to Drama. 
  2. EO2 Road Axis, involves the upgrade of EO2 road axis connecting Thessaloniki to Edessa, including the improvements of the bridge section at the Axios river, the Mavrovouni to Edessa section, the bypass of Giannitsa and the bypass of Chalkidona. 
  3. Enipeas Farsala River Dam, involves the Build, Finance, Operation and Maintenance (BFOM) of Enipeas Farsala River Dam, as well as water distribution networks and other related infrastructure. 
  4. Tavronitis River: Derianos and Semproniotis Dams, involves the Design, Build, Finance, Operation and Maintenance (DBFOM) of Derianos Dam and Semproniotis Dam at Tavronitis river, as well as connection tunnel to reservoirs, water transfer and distribution works. 
  5. Xanti Irrigation Network, involves the Design, Build, Finance, Operation and Maintenance (DBFOM) of irrigation network connecting river Nesto in Eastern Xanthi to 56,000 acres of land in the municipality.
