Warwick District Council has approved plans to develop a £2.5 billion (US$3.4 billion) gigafactory zone in partnership with Coventry City Council and Rigby Group at Coventry Airport.
Seven industrial units at the GreenPower Park site have been approved, opening up around 4.8 million square feet of manufacturing space and pushing the major project closer to construction. The planned buildings will vary in size from about 69,000 square feet to a vast 1.5 million square feet, forming one of the Midlands’ largest advanced manufacturing hubs. This approval follows the outline permission granted in 2022 for a large battery facility and now sets out detailed plans covering the design, scale, and landscaping of the development.
The GreenPower Park is being developed through a partnership between Coventry City Council and Rigby Group to establish a leading hub for battery innovation, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing. The project forms part of the Coventry & Warwick Investment Zone, where businesses will receive incentives such as business rates relief, reduced Stamp Duty, and higher national insurance thresholds, all aimed at attracting and speeding up new investment.
