Guayaquil Port mobilizes more than 13 million TEUs

The Ecuador Ministry of Transport and Public Works has announced that the Container and Multipurpose Terminal of Guayaquil in Ecuador has reached 13 million TEU since starting operation in 2007.

The project is concessioned to Contecon Guayaquil SA (CGSA), a joint venture between the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA International) and International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI). The concessionaire has invested more than US$360 million in civil works in the public port of Guayaquil, as well as the acquisition of port equipment. The project involved the construction of the 145-meter dock 1C, port infrastructure that allows it to handle large ships simultaneously, 6 gantry cranes, 23 RTG, and 3 mobile cranes.

CGSA recently finished the reinforcement of piers 2 and 3 (370 m) with an investment exceeding US$5.3 million and plans to carry out the dredging of the maneuvering area of ​​piers 2 and 3, for an amount of US$507 million in Q4 2022, in addition to other investments scheduled for 2022.
