Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) has revised the Phase II plan for the Jaipur Metro due to a conflict with the Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA's) signal-free project.
The JMRC had proposed to construct stations at 21 locations in its last revised DPR, including the Rambagh, Tonk Pathak, and B2 Bypass. However, the JDA had also started projects for the construction of underpasses and semi-cloverleaf structures in the same or nearby locations. The line will be approximately 23.5 km long and will have 21 stations. It will connect the Ambabari area in the north of the city to the Sitapura Industrial Area in the southeast.
The project is still in the early stages of development, but the JMRC has already awarded a number of contracts for the construction of the line. The project is expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase expected to be operational in 2026. The total cost of the project is estimated to be INR 9,500 crore (US$1,142.84 million) and is expected to be completed in 2028.
