JSW Energy won a 500 MW/1 GWh Energy storage PPP project in India

JSW Energy announced that it has won an auction held by Solar Corporation of India (SECI) for the development of battery energy storage system projects (BESS) in Rajasthan, India. The company offered a winning bid of INR1.08 million (US$13,600) per MW.

JSW Energy will be responsible for building, owning, operating and transferring the 500 MW/1 GWh standalone, grid-connected BESS project which will be developed in two parts of 250 MW capacity near the Fatehgarh-III (400/220 kV) substations of the interstate power transmission system.

The project, which is a joint initiative of the Ministry of New Renewable Energy (MNNRE) and the Ministry of Power is expected to be put into operation within 18 months after the contract's signature.
