Loan agreement signed for Cairo metro Line 4 Phase 1 in Cairo

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Egypt has signed a loan agreement of JPY41 billion (US$320 million) for the first phase of Cairo metro Line 4 in Egypt.

Mitsubishi Corporation awarded Colas Rail, Orascom Construction and Thales with a EUR650 million (US$701 million) contract on April 2022 for the installation of the rail systems, and the construction of the tracks and depot.

The joint venture consists of Arab Contractors ‎Company (leader), Concord, Petrojet and Hassan Allam Holding will be responsible for civil works on the western section of 13.7 km (Hadayek El Ashgar – Amr ibn El Aas).

The Cairo metro Line 4 is designed to fit a capacity of 2 million passengers per day and is expected to be operation in February 2028.
