MINEM signes 2 contracts for electrical infrastructure projects in Peru

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) signed two concession contracts with the company Concesionaria Transmisora Reque Tumbes S.A.C. that will allow the carrying out of new electrical infrastructure works in Peru.

The Enlace 220 kV Reque — Nueva Carhuaquero and SE Nueva Tumbes 220/60 kV — 75 МVA and LT 60 kV Nueva Tumbes project will improve the efficiency and quality of electricity supply for the regions of Cajamarca, Lambaeque and Tumbes and will benefit more than 1.3 million Peruvians. The projects will expand capacity between Chiclayo and Cajamarca, as well as increase conversion capacity to service the Tumbes electrical system, avoid congestion at the Zorritos substation, and cover rising electricity demand.

The total investment in projects exceeds US$17 million. MINEM is a grantmaker and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), PROINVERSIÓN and Osinergmin will develop new infrastructure that will improve access to basic services for the population
