The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) and Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznyca) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to lay out the cooperation principles and to develop the high-speed rail (HSR) line in Warsaw, Poland.

The project involves the construction of a cross-border HSR line on the Warsaw–Lviv–Kyiv route between Poland and Ukraine on the European 1435 mm gauge with an assumed maximum operating speed of 250 km/h. The aim of the agreement is to:

  • improve railway links between Ukraine, Poland and the European Union (EU);
  • facilitate passenger traffic, improve economic exchange; and
  • strengthen the safety of transport corridors.
