The Government of New South Wales has signed a 30-year Gas Transportation and Storage Agreement and a Development Agreement with APA Group for the Hunter Power Project in New South Wales, Australia.

The project involves the construction of a gas transmission pipeline facility with an approximate total length of 20 km. The pipeline will connect the Sydney-Newcastle Pipeline to the Hunter Power Project at Kurri Kurri in NSW. It would also include a 70 TJ gas storage facility that services the Hunter Power Project.

APA plans to invest up to AUD264 million (US$181.98 million) in the project. The final cost of the project will be confirmed once the detailed engineering design is completed in late 2022. The development of the project is subject to necessary approvals. The signed Gas Transportation and Storage Agreement may be extended by Snowy Hydro for an additional ten years.

The project is being overseen by the government-owned electricity generation and retailing company Snowy Hydro.
