Philippines approved Two Major PPP Projects

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board has approved the Dialysis Center PPP Project for the Renal Center Facility of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) and the Upgrade, Expansion, Operation, and Maintenance of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport Project in Philippines.

The Department of Health (DOH) initiative entails transforming BGHMC’s current dormitory building into a fully operational dialysis center. Specifically, the goal is to enhance BGHMC’s dialysis unit capacity, making hemodialysis services accessible to more patients. Spanning 16 years, the project includes a one-year building retrofitting phase and a subsequent 15-year operational period. The private partner is responsible for financing, designing, retrofitting, operating, and maintaining the facility, including the provision of necessary machines and equipment.

The Bohol-Panglao International Airport PPP project seeks to enhance the capacity of the New Bohol International Airport by expanding or constructing a new passenger terminal and associated buildings, complying with all relevant standards for equipment and facilities. The upgrade aims to incorporate innovative concepts of 'Green' and 'Connected' airports in the design, operations, and maintenance of the airport. The private partner is expected to manage the existing airport facilities, including enhanced airside facilities, and oversee the development, operation, and maintenance of commercial assets. The project has a duration of 30 years.
