The Leret Partnership, a joint venture between Mole Valley District Council and Kier Property, submitted its planning application to regenerate the Swan Centre and to bring new homes to Bull Hill in Leatherhead.
The Swan Centre, Leatherhead’s main shopping hub, is set for a significant upgrade through more than £12 million (US$16 million) in investment. The plans include adding four new restaurant and café units, giving existing shops contemporary and visually appealing frontages, introducing a three-screen cinema, and creating a revitalised central square designed for markets and community activities. Plans for Bull Hill — situated between Leatherhead Station and the High Street — envision a well-connected, landscape-focused neighbourhood centred on green public areas and sustainable transport. The scheme provides for up to 480 homes, including affordable options, as well as modern, environmentally conscious office space, the possibility of a GP surgery, a new multi-storey car park, and improved, safer, and segregated walking and cycling routes.
The scheme will provide much-needed housing on a sustainable, highly accessible brownfield site, helping to attract more residents, workers and visitors to Leatherhead. Alongside the Swan Centre proposals, a detailed application has been submitted for the northeastern part of Bull Hill, which includes 276 of the planned homes. The rest of the Bull Hill development is submitted in outline form only, with more specific designs for those areas to be brought forward at a later stage.
