The private investment promotion agency (Proinversion) has announced that it will modernize 41 schools at risk in Lima, Peru.

Proinversion is contributing to 4 "Schools at Risk" projects that will benefit 71,000 students per year in regular basic education. The first project is schools at risk in the Lima metropolitan area (San Juan de Miraflores and Villa El Salvador), which will upgrade 13 schools with an estimated investment of US$255 million. The second project is Schools at Risk in Villa Maria del Triunfo, which will upgrade 5 schools at a cost of US$66 million. The third project is Schools at Risk in Ata and San Juan de Lurigancho, which will upgrade 14 schools at a cost of US$140 million. The fourth project is Comas Schools of Risk and San Martin de Porres, which will provide assistance to 9 schools with an estimated investment of US$91 million.

The public-private partnership (PPP) projects listed are part of the state's strategy to improve infrastructure and additional educational services and reduce the gap in the education sector. Within each project, the concessionaire will be responsible for the construction of new educational infrastructure (where it currently operates), furniture and equipment for classrooms, training workshops for work, administrative premises and sports fields. The concessionaire will also be responsible for the maintenance of the educational infrastructure. The state will continue to be responsible for the management of education, pedagogical management (teaching and curriculum) and administrative management in each school.

A declaration of interest for the CER Lima Metropolitana and Villa María del Triunfo project is scheduled for the first half of 2024 and the other two projects for the second half of 2024.
