Rail Baltica has announced the second stage of the procurement for the construction of the Rail Baltica mainline in Latvia, during which the work with the 5 previously nominated associations of construction companies will continue.

The procurement involves the construction works of the Rail Baltica mainline in the territory of Latvia outside Riga: site preparation, embankment construction, construction of railway bridges, roads and overpasses, relocation of engineering networks and construction of tracks. Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas is responsible for organizing the tender and will also apply the re-measurement contract mechanism instead of lumpsum.

The nominated teams are invited to submit technical and financial proposals by October 31, 2022. Construction work on the Rail Baltica highway in Latvia will start in 2023. The first construction works are planned in the Bauska region near Iecava, Latvia.
