RFQ launched for the development of eco-tourism resorts in Andaman and Nicobar

The Union Territory Administration of Andaman and Nicobar has launched Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the development of three eco-tourism resorts across the archipelago.

The authority is seeking private partners to design, finance, procure and construct, manage, operate and maintain an up to 110-room (400-bed) facility in Lalaji Bay, Long Island; a 50-room (100-bed) facility on Aves Island and a 70-room (140-bed) facility on Smith Island.

The Lalaji Bay resort will span 42 hectares, also containing a floating jetty, a 180 kilolitres per day (KLD) desalination plant, a 120 KLD rain water treatment plant, a 2.4 MW solar power plant and a 255 KLD sewage treatment plant to be delivered by the private partner. 

The private partner selected for the Aves Island resort will develop, alongside accommodation, a floating jetty, a 27 KLD desalination plant, a 18 KLD rain water treatment plant, a 0.43 MW solar power plant, and a 38 KLD sewage treatment plant. The project will cover a total area of 2.75 hectares.

Similarly, the Smith Island resort will contain a floating jetty, a 52 KLD desalination plant, a 35 KLD rainwater treatment plant, a 1.2 MW solar power plant and a 67 KLD sewage treatment plant. The private partner will develop these facilities over an up to 25-hectare area.
