The Ministry of Public Works of Chile has announced that San Pablo Antiguo way will start operating as part of the Route 68 - Autopista Vespucio Norte road public-private partnership (PPP) project in Chile.

The new San Pablo Antiguo return route is located at km 7.2 of Route 68, next to the service station. The path will work as an alternative for those traveling on the Vespuccio Norte Highway and traveling to Santiago on Highway 68 heading east, or those coming from Highway 68 west and wanting to run towards Maipu on America Vespuchio. Part of the work carried out in Vespuccio Norte is the closure of the express lanes in both directions of the highway between the Los Mares underpass (10,4 km) and the Claudio Arrau footbridge (14.5 km) in the commune of Pudahuel.

As part of the project, new crossings will be made in the sectors of Serrano Street (east of the intersection) and in the area of the service station (west of the intersection), located on Highway 68. On the axis of the street Americo Vespuccio is considering replacing the footbridges Claudio Arrau (13,460 km), San Pedro (12,815 km) and La Travesia (12,465 km) in accordance with current universal access standards, as well as the construction of about 2 km of fourth tracks (expressways and local streets), from the Route 68 junction south to Los Mares.

The project will improve the local connectivity, and replace walkways to current accessibility standards, including acoustic screens, new seating and landscaping areas, LED lighting, remote surveillance cameras, bike lanes and traffic lights. Vespucio Norte is responsible for the project.
