Sime Darby Berhad announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Sime Darby Holdings Berhad (SDHB) has entered into a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Columbia Asia Healthcare Sdn Bhd (Columbia Asia) for the disposal of its entire 50% equity interest in Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Sdn Bhd (RSDH) for MYR2.84 billion (US$605.22 million).

RSDH represents a 50:50 partnership between Sime Darby and Ramsay Health Care Limited. Through SPA, SDHB, in collaboration with AH Holdings Health Care Pty Ltd (a Ramsay subsidiary), is set to divest its entire 100% equity interest in RSDH to Columbia Asia for a cash consideration of MYR5.7 billion (US$1.2 billion). This transaction allows Sime Darby to unlock the value of its healthcare assets, previously considered non-core, resulting in a gain of MYR2 billion (US$428 million) on disposal. The move aligns with Sime Darby's strategic portfolio streamlining, redirecting capital to reinforce its core businesses in Industrial and Motors. RSDH specializes in hospital management and healthcare services, with operations spanning four hospitals in Malaysia and three in Indonesia.
