St. Paul's hospital replacement business plan gets green light

The government of British Columbia of Canada has given the go-ahead to the US$ 1.4 billion St. Pauls' hospital replacement PPP in Vancouver, following the approval of the business plan for the project.

The plan to redevelopment was staled for 12 years but the wait is now over, new building will be constructed by 2026. The new development in the hospital will include single-patient rooms to minimize infections, maximize privacy and accommodate a family member or support person, new technologies and state-of-the-art spaces, including digital wayfinding, automated patient check-ins, and online patient scheduling, integrated care, research and teaching. The hospital will have capacity of 548 beds.

The project is funded by provincial government and Providence Health Care sharing costs and donations. The existing property will also be sold to fund the project.
