AECOM announced that it has been appointed by Metrolinx as a technical advisor for the 14 km Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Ontario, Canada.

The city is building its first LRT to accommodate future growth and development, improve connectivity, and attract economic development. The LRT will run on dedicated tracks, providing safe, frequent, and reliable service. It will connect key areas, destinations, and institutions along Main Street, King Street, and Queenston Road, creating a 14-km multi-modal corridor with an enhanced streetscape. The project will also support sustainable growth and city-building by revitalizing critical utilities and general infrastructure along the route. This includes a complete revitalization of both private and public utilities along the transit route, including water, gas, and telecommunications lines. Infrastructure improvements will span the entire project corridor, and include:

  • Replaced sewers;
  • All new water mains;
  • Brand new gas mains;
  • New hydro lines;
  • New telecommunications lines; and
  • Restored sidewalks and roads.

AECOM’s integrated team will be supporting Metrolinx in the delivery of the full breadth of infrastructure for the Hamilton LRT.
